| Rachel Compton was born on 14 Apr 1768 in Brattleboro, Windham Co., VT, the daughter of John Francis Compton and Helena Shearer. She married Lyman Elijah Wood about 1786 who was born in England. Rachael and Lyman had a son Lyman, born circa 1787. Lyman Elijah died sometime before 1790. On 16 Apr 1790 at Hoosick, Rensselaer Co., NY, Rachael was married to Jonas Parke. Jonas was the widower of Mary Herrick, with whom he had one son, Peter Parke. Jonas was also a veteran of the Revolutionary War. Rachael and Jonas had 5 children together: Jonas, Hellen, George Soloman, Lucy and William. Jonas died in 1825 in Deposit, Delaware Co., NY.
