| The Life of A Civil War Veteran PVT ANDREW JACKSON , Co. D, 75th OVI (Ohio Vol Inf ) He was a member of Co. D, 75th Regiment OVI. He was in 16 battles that were some of the bloodiest of the war and received several wounds. (shattered lower limbs, knee cap on his left leg was destroyed and right leg was so torn it was amputated, and his right shoulder was also injured.) He received his discharge on January 20, 1865. On August 19, 1865 he married Margaret Ann Border daughter of Solomon Border of Pennsylvania. They moved to Sand Ridge near Chauncey, Ohio . They had seven children and he resided there until his death on November 25, 1921. Mr. Jackson had many rare relics of the war. (a piece of a Rebel flag captured at Gettysburg, a regimental flag, a gold medal & a medal of gallant bravery). He was a member of the KP lodge # 79 at Chauncey and the GAR of Columbus and the Golden Post of Athens #89. |
